YEAR 9 Nunnery High School student Megan Stokes is celebrating her recent news of being offered a place on the Performing Arts course at Birmingham Ormiston Academy (BOA).
BOA is a state-funded academy for 14 to 19-year-olds specialising in creative, digital and performing arts.
The academy opened in September 2011 in a brand-new landmark building, located in Birmingham. It has superb facilities for academic, vocational and extra-curricular activities.
In order to gain a place on her course, Megan attended a rigorous online selection process to audition for BOA.
The day consisted of three sections; a duologue and movement, a monologue and group work and the final section a written piece of work.
Megan said: “I decided to really do my best in order to give me the best chance on the day. I was pleased with my performance, but then I had to wait for the results to come through in the post.
“My family and I were so pleased to receive the letter to say that I had been offered a place on the course which starts in September. My aspiration is to become an actress, but I also love the music industry.
“I play instruments and sing. Thank you to Nunnery Wood High for all of the support they have given me in this.”
BOA’s curriculum is designed to develop the specific identified talents, gifts and potential of each student. Performance, production, creativity and excellence will be at the centre of their experiences.
Encompassing a full range of vocational, traditional and enrichment courses, BOA’s students have the opportunity to individualise their learning pathways.
