AFTER an emotional ceremony the winners of the Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards 2021 have been revealed tonight.
It was a fantastic evening with wonderful host Dr Hilary Jones.
As a newspaper we are so proud to have been able to run these awards and put our care heroes in the limelight.
The awards, run in conjunction with the University of Worcester, were a big success after hundreds nominated people and organisations that readers felt were worthy of recognition.
Although the event had to be virtual this year, readers took the opportunity to watch live on Worcester News' Facebook page.
If you missed it, or want to rewatch the ceremony, visit our Facebook page where the video is available to view.
Here is the list of the winners:
Adolescent & Child Health Care - Hollie Burfitt
Care Hero - Zoe Rira
Care Home Worker - Martina Bray
Dementia Care - Rebecca Archer
Domiciliary Care Worker - Jackie Edwards
Good Nurse - Amy Bentley
GP Practice - Upton Surgery
Health Care Employer - Huw James
Health Care Team - Headway Worcestershire
Mental Health Care - Steven Walker
Palliative / End of Life - St Richard`s Hospice
The overall winner was Zoe Rira who works as a housekeeping supervisor at Juniper House Residential Care Home.
In March last year, when the Prime Minister announced the country was moving into the first national lockdown due to rising Covid infections, she selflessly left her husband and three children at home to move into the Sanctuary Care care home in Worcester.
Don’t miss our winners’ supplement celebrating Zoe and all those who won - it’s a great souvenir of a fabulous event, that will be in our newspapers next week.
