A WOMAN who suffered from poor mental health during lockdown is placing signs of support around a town as she does not want anyone else to reach the low point she reached.
Tegan Whittaker,20, from Malvern, has placed handwritten signs in and around Malvern so anyone who is going through a mental health crisis can reach out and get the support they need during a crisis.
Tegan said: “Many people are suffering in isolation because of the pandemic and, as I live on my own, I had an episode of poor mental health and ended up in Worcestershire Royal Hospital in January and came close to losing my life.
“I don’t want anyone to feel the way I did, and I got the idea to place these signs in the Malvern area with support information linking to Shout.”
Shout is the UK’s first confidential mental health support text service.
Tegan added: “It’s easier said than done to reach out.
“If someone feels like they are slipping, please get in touch with mental health helplines and get in touch with your loved ones.
“I would love to thank the NHS and all the nurses that helped me.
“People need help more than ever, and the pandemic will be over soon - but your life won’t.
“I’m happy I’m still here - I’m very lucky.”

Claire has found people open up more when outside in nature.
Claire said: “Walking at the moment can only be done 1-1 so I’ve been walking lots and we’re starting to generate a great atmosphere and members are organising their own 1-1’s.
“It’s incredibly challenging for people at the moment and connecting with people and being outside in the fresh air is becoming more important.”
