TWO test sites set up after a small number of variant Covid cases were identified in WR3 and WR9 postcode areas will close ahead of schedule by the end of the day tomorrow, following an ‘amazing’ response from residents coming forward.
Over 6,000 people have now been offered a test, through testing at Sixways Stadium or The White Hart Pub in Fernhill Heath, or a home test kit delivered to houses and businesses in the area.
Sixways and The White Hart were both due to run testing until the end of this weekend but due to the fantastic response of people booking a test or doing a home test, the sites will close at the end of tomorrow, as they are no longer needed.
Dr Kathryn Cobain, director of public health for Worcestershire, said: “I want to say a big thank you to residents who have been determined to help us reduce the spread of this virus.
"The widespread testing in these areas will allow us to identify cases and stop the spread of the virus.
"Thank you to everyone who has played their part.”
