POLICE are searching the Diglis area for the body of a woman allegedly murdered by a man, the Worcester News understands.

This afternoon police cordoned off three sites in Worcester and a man was arrested on suspicion of murder after a ‘serious incident.’

Officers have taped off Diglis footbridge, Cheviot Close and a home in Waterworks Road.

A source told the Worcester News that a man had allegedly killed a woman and then hidden her body.

Forensic experts are investigating what appears to be blood spatters found in a trail running down the small cul de sac just off Tolladine Road.

While five police vehicles, including two forensic vans, and a fire and rescue boat crew are at Diglis Bridge.

Diglis Bridge and walkways around it either side of the River Severn have been shut off since early this afternoon with two forensic vans present and a fire service rescue boat deployed as part of a murder investigation.

Police tape was also across a home in Waterworks Road which police confirmed was linked with the other two scenes.

One man has been arrested by police on suspicion of murder.

A West Mercia Police statement read: “We have cordons in place at three locations in Worcester including the Diglis footbridge as part of a serious incident.

“We would ask people to remain out of the areas while the investigation is underway.

“A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody. We believe this to be an isolated incident.”

A man from Cheviot Close said: “It’s all a shock. I’ve no idea what has happened. “
