AN ANIMAL shelter has said it is doing well thanks to the response of the community following a recent media appeal for donations.
Worcestershire Animal Rescue shelter, based at Hawthorn Lane Newland near Malvern, launched its their emergency winter appeal in December last year, covered by Worcester News, bringing in much-needed funding.
Shelter manager Claire Tregunna said: “We felt so humbled that in these extremely difficult times, the public were still supporting us and our work.
“We were then blown away by the support we received after our story was published, receiving over £3,000 in new telephone and cheque donations within a number of days.
“We are also thrilled we currently have three individuals carrying out their own fundraising challenges to help raise funds towards the campaign. “Words truly can’t express how grateful all the staff, trustees and the animals are with the support they have received.
“So far, we’re just about to hit £16,000 within 8 weeks of launching - our supporters are simply incredible.”
Twenty eight animals are currently in the care of the staff at WARS, including Arthur, a 14-year-old cat who has just been diagnosed with diabetes. He will get the medication he needs to control this disease, receive the best care available and made to feel as comfortable as possible until he can find his loving forever home with his brother Greyson.
If you want to help, visit the shelter’s website, or call on 01905 831651 any day between 11am and 3pm.
