THE youth court is sitting today in Worcester as magistrates deal with teenagers accused of a range of offences including drug dealing and assault.
Those due up today include a 16-year-old from Worcester charged with possession of cannabis and a 14-year-old from Hereford charged with assault. The Press is prohibited from identifying those who appear at youth court (those under the age of 18).
Thug faces jail over violence in Worcester and Malvern
A 16-year-old is charged with theft from a shop in Evesham. Another youth, aged 17, from Birmingham is scheduled to appear for possession of both heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply in Evesham on February 1 this year.
A 17-year-old from Dudley is set to appear for possession of heroin with intent to supply in Evesham on October 21 last year and for breaking bail conditions on January 26 this year. Meanwhile, a criminal behaviour order is being sought to provide police with additional powers to deal with a Worcester 17-year-old's antisocial antics.
Another court at magistrates is occupied today with motoring offences including speeding and careless driving. Claire Gibson, 36, of Minerva Mews, Alcester is in court for failing to give information regarding the identification of a driver in Droitwich. Jagjeet Rehnsi, 34, of Pembroke Gardens, Swindon is due up for speeding in Malvern on May 18 last year.
Janet Reid, 57, of Bransdale Close, Wolverhampton is charged with speeding at Dunhampton near Worcester (the A449) on May 13 last year.
Peter Crispe, 83, of Suckley Road, Barnsford is due to appear for driving without due care and attention at Sherridge Road, Leigh Sinton on June 25 last year.
At Worcester Crown Court the Redditch murder trial involving Adam Carpenter, Faisal Fiaz and Mohammed Hussain is ongoing. Many administrative hearings from the crown court are being heard at Kidderminster. This is because two courts at Worcester (courts one and two) have been taken up with the murder trial. Parties at the Kidderminster court are appearing over live link because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In court three at Worcester there will be the sentence of Barreto Da Costa this afternoon. Judge Nicolas Cartwright, pictured, is scheduled to carry out this sentence.
