A FACT finding meeting has been held over the potential for homes to be built on the site of a former hotel.
Around 100 people logged in to the virtual meeting to hear about plans put forward for the listed Raven Hotel, in Droitwich, which, if agreed, would be partly demolished to make way for 51 new homes.
Speaking after the meeting, Cllr Alex Sinton who is the leader of Droitwich Spa Town Council and vice chair of Wychavon District Council, said: “The meeting was positive and addressed some of the rumours flying around on the internet with hard facts.

“The presentation was very good from the developer who comes from Droitwich and everyone was very polite, although forthright with questions which is how a meeting like this should go.
“It was a fact-finding meeting and what I would say if anyone has any objections to now lodge them on the planning portal website.
“It was different having the meeting online via Zoom, but around 100 people were present and I think virtual meetings are the way forward.”
Under the proposals, the central part of the St Andrews Road hotel - which is grade II-listed and dates back to the late 16th century - will be kept as well as some of the later buildings.
The plan to build up to 51 homes, which includes a mix of flats, terraced, detached and semi-detached homes, as well as space for a bar and restaurant was backed in 2018 by the council.
The closed hotel has fallen into a shocking state of disrepair and pictures emerged on social media late last year showing the extent of the damage.
The online meeting started at around 6pm, chaired by councillor Bradley Thomas, leader of Wychavon District Council, and included a presentation by RCA Regeneration, the agents for the proposed development.
