TRIBUTES have been paid to a former county councillor who has died.

Peter Pinfield passed away yesterday, January 29, at the age of 73.

He served Droitwich Spa Town Council, Wychavon District Council and Worcestershire County Council for many years and was an Honorary Alderman of both Wychavon and Droitwich Spa.

He was also leader of the Worcestershire Labour Group for over ten years in the 1990's and early 2000's, and more recently chairman of Healthwatch Worcestershire.

Paying tribute to her husband, Peter’s wife Pat, said: “We will miss Peter dearly, so will the many people who he knew.

“I’m sure there will be many organisations out there who will miss him as well because he’s touched the hearts of many.

“His motto was ‘my advice comes free’ and he’s given so much help to people over the years."

Droitwich councillor Alan Humphries, said: "Peter devoted his political life to Droitwich and the town meant everything to him.

"He was a mentor, but, more importantly, a friend.

"If in public life I achieve even as half as much as he did, I will be lucky, he was and remains an inspiration.

"My thoughts and prayers are with his wife Pat and their family at this dreadfully sad time."

Fellow Droitwich Town councillor Richard Morris, said: "I’ve know Peter for many years and he was a great local councillor who did an enormous amount of good for the town.

"He was a terrific man, and someone I always enjoyed talking with.

"Thoughts are with Pat and the whole family."

St John’s councillor Richard Udall, said: "Peter was a friend a colleague and a comrade, he was a life long fighter for social justice, a truly kind and compassionate person, we will miss him greatly."
