Worcestershire’s top-rated hotels to visit after lockdown

Even when restrictions ease, Matt Hancock has cautioned against booking summer holidays abroad, encouraging people to have a “great British summer” instead of travelling overseas.

Luckily for us, there are plenty of fantastic places to stay right on our doorstep.

Using Booking.com, we have tracked down some of the best-reviewed and rated hotels in Worcestershire- ideal for those who want to get out of the house but don’t want to stray too far from home after lockdown.
 

According to research from Booking.com,  47% of people still plan to travel within their own country in 7-12 months’ time.

A spokesperson for the company added: “For Brits, there are many reasons why travelling domestically should be front of mind once it is permitted to do so.

“Firstly, the UK is home to some of the world’s most beautiful settings, which span incredible coastlines, stunning national parks and thriving cultural cities.

“Further to this, doorstep delights can often offer both cost and time savings, whilst also giving travellers more freedom over which method of transport to take when travelling to and from their chosen location.”

“[However], we strongly recommend that travellers book refundable/flexible room options in case of the need to cancel or reschedule.”

East House hotel is incredibly popular and very in demand.

Currently, it is one of the top-reviewed hotels in Worcestershire with many people praising its modern amenities and beautiful grounds.

The five star hotel has won several awards and the historic building itself dates back to the 18th Century.

Arguably, the best part about the hotel are the scenic views from your bedroom window.

If you want to get out into nature and experience it for yourself, the hotel offers a free bike hire facility so you can ride along the Worcestershire countryside or Broadway village for yourself.

When you are back at the hotel, you can wind down with a glass of champagne in one of the elegant guest lounges, or tuck into a locally sourced breakfast in the woof panelled dining room.

One person said their stay here was “exceptional”.

They added: “It is the most stunning property.

“The hosts did everything to ensure we enjoyed a fantastic weekend break.

“Breakfast was superb and the whole experience was fantastic.”

Fancy a stay in a historic Georgian building?

Rooms at the Dewdrop Inn have received high praised from former guests.

Best of all, the building itself is withing walking distance from Edward Elgar’s (English composer) birth place.

If you are embarking on an active holiday filled with plenty of walking cycling and angling, then this is the ideal place to stay.in a popular location for walkers, cyclists and anglers.

However, you will be reluctant to leave the Inn to begin with; you could easily spend the whole day relaxing on the plush bed or sampling the array of food and ales on the restaurant’s menu.

In fact, guests have very high praise for the food available.

One person wrote: “The food is outstanding... we are vegetarian and rate the choice, quality and flavour of the meals as ten out of ten.”

Another person thought the room’s television was a bit too small but still gave the inn a 9/10 rating.

They added: “The room was lovely and clean… it was very quiet at night.”

Halfway House, Great Malvern

This “striking” Georgian hotel has a “suberb” rating on Booking.com.

If you are looking for traditional accommodation with a rustic appearance, then this is the place for you.

Delicious home-cooked food is served at the Halfway House, which specialises in seafood and steaks- all of which you can enjoy while sitting next to the restaurant’s log-burning fire.

The Malvern Hills are only a mile away, ideal for those embarking on a walking holiday.

This place sounds fantastic on paper- but do former guests have to say about their stay?

One person commented: “The room was cosy and truly like a home away from home!”

However, they did add that it was located near a busy main road which was a little noisy at night “but not unbearable”.

Another guest had noting bad to say about the Halfway House.

The wrote: “We had a spacious room with a very comfortable bed- the sofa was a real bonus.

“Breakfast was excellent and our host welcoming and helpful.

“[Halfway House had] lots of nice touches such as the honesty bar downstairs, tea, coffee, biscuits AND hot chocolate available in the room, a bookcase with lots of books to borrow.”

The Wyche Inn, Great Malvern

The Wyche Inn is ideally located in the Malvern Hills- and it’s also one of the more affordable options on our list.

It is described as a “lively and vibrant” traditional English public house- and it seems like a fantastic little place to visit once lockdown restrictions ease.

All bedrooms have access to their own en-suite facilities and all benefit from scenic views.

The bar at the inn serves numerous locally brewed real ales as well as home cooked food.

According to the reviews, it is a particularly popular place for couples on a walking holiday.

One person wrote that it was the “perfect location for long walks” and another added that the staff were friendly and the food “high quality”.

One person remarked: “The room was warm and very comfortable, with fantastic views - the inn is in a beautiful location.

“The inn is full of character, the food is great, and I would thoroughly recommend it as a place to stay.”

Stanbrook Abbey Hotel, Worcester

If you are planning a luxury getaway and want to treat yourself to high-end local getaway, look no further than Stanbrook Abbey Hotel.

The historic Georgian building itself is situated within 50 acres of beautiful land and well-tended gardens. If this wasn’t enough, The Walled Gardens at Croome Court are only 12 miles away; Hanbury Hall and Eastnor Castle are also within driving distance.

The majority of former guests have nothing bad to say about the hotel.

One person wrote that “everything is up to perfection” while another said it was a “beautiful hotel, combining historic and modernity seamlessly.

Another said: “I totally fell in love with the hotel, history, design and feel of it.

“It’s a great hotel to explore (especially wine cellar!) and felt nice and warm/friendly too.”
