Footballers are being discouraged to hug during goal-scoring celebrations, but 'surely something needs to be done to combat spitting'
SIR – As a keen football fan I am pleased to see that players are being told to stop hugging in celebration of a goal etc.
However I think that something even more important is being missed and that is the sight of players spitting during a game! Surely, in these Covid times, this is something of a risk of passing on the virus?
Not including the possibility of players falling on the spit when being tackled! Horrible experience.
