A POPULAR nightspot is bringing live music back to Worcester.

Drummonds says its five events planned before Christmas are the first live music in the city since the second lockdown in November.

With key events such as Worcester Music Festival not being able to go ahead and venues forced to close, there has been little live music for people to enjoy.

Paradiddles cafe music bar was able to run a successful short run of events in the summer, and open mic nights also continued to operate, but live music shows have been particularly missed.

The five events, which are being called Reunited, are being billed as the return of live music at the Covid safe environment of the New Street venue.

The audience has to remain seated throughout performances, and in groups of a maximum of six made up of support bubbles.

The venue is capable of holding around 40 people for the events, less than half it could typically with a usual standing audience.

The lineup for the events are:

December 16th; The Purple Shades, Chevy Chase Stole My Wife, Hannah Law.

December 17th; The Earnest Spears, Sedated Society, KIDDPINK.

December 20th; Skewwhiff, Echo Gecco, The Humdrum Express.

December 21st; Zilch, Hipflask Virgins, Kyle Parsons.

December 22nd; The Strays, The VHTs, Ruben Seabright.

Audience members will also be able to purchase alcohol without a meal, after a change in legislation for live music events.

Samantha Daly, from Worcester promotions brand Uncover, said: “It’s great to have some live music to look forward to.

"Many of the local acts haven’t had chance to perform this year, so it’s fantastic that they will get the opportunity to after such a tough year.

"It’s also great to be able to partner with Birmingham Promoters on this series, bringing such a well-established promotions company to Worcester is very exciting.”

Carlo Solazzo, of Birmingham Promoters, said: “It’s been a tough year for everyone, so to be able to get these five events in before the end of the year is a fantastic way for everyone to come together, in a socially distanced way, and end the year with some positivity and great music.

"Worcester has some amazing talent and we are thrilled to be able to support its growth and development.”

Tickets for these events are priced at £8 and have to be booked in advance at http://birminghampromoters.com.
