DOZENS of supporters turned up at the war memorial on Remembrance Day, even though the Cathedral was not holding an official service.
Despite the lockdown veterans and supporters alike gathered around the Cathedral on Sunday to pay their respects and remember the fallen.
Among them was Dave Carney, veteran and founder of the Worcester Veteran's Breakfast Club.
He said: "I know we are not allowed to officially gather, however, we still wanted to mark the occasion. It is our day, a few of the lads arranged to do our own service outside the Cathedral, following social distancing, of course.
"We were really surprised by the turn out, there was plenty of support from the public, who all came out and we even had a reading from a vicar, which we weren't expecting."
Crowds began to gather at 11am around the Cathedral and in Cathedral Square.
The police were in attendance and Worcestershire Regulatory Services were also there handing out masks.
When the clock struck 11, the cathedral bells rang 11 times and the crowd fell silent to observe two minutes silence.
A priest said a prayer and lead the crowd in singing God save the Queen.
As the crowd dispersed many people came to thank the veterans for their service.
Meanwhile, people around Worcester paid their respects by observing the two minutes silence on thier doorsteps and hanging poppies in their windows.
