SHOPPERS have not been 'panic-buying' in the run up to a second national lockdown.
Despite the UK going back into lockdown for four weeks from tomorrow (November 5), supermarket shelves have remained full.
We visited five local supermarkets and found there were no queues, and toilet paper, handwash and medication was still available to buy. However, some stores had placed a restriction on the number of items you could purchase.
There have been queues at non-essential retailers that will be closed for the four weeks. Readers reported seeing long queues outside Primark, The Range and Homebase throughout the week and also at the tip on Bilford Road.
A director at the British Retail Consortium has urged consumers to be considerate of others and “shop as you normally would” – though he added supply chains are currently “stronger than ever.”
Have you seen any empty shelves when out shopping?
