THE city's coronavirus infection rate has continued to rise according to the latest figures.

Worcester's rate increased to 160 per 100,000 people in the week up to October 26 with 162 positive cases recorded compared to 101.8 per 100,000 people in the previous week.

The infection rate increased in every part of the county including Wychavon and Malvern Hills with Bromsgrove returning to the top with the highest rate in Worcestershire.

Worcestershire's infection rate increased to 146 per 100,000 people with 870 cases recorded during the week.

The infection rate increased in Bromsgrove to 182.2 in the week compared to 172.6 a week earlier - making it the highest rate in Worcestershire.

A total of 182 cases were recorded in Bromsgrove during the week compared to 176 in the previous week.

The infection rate in Redditch was 180.6 per 100,000 people in the week up to October 26 with 154 cases recorded.

The infection rate in Redditch in the previous week was 122 per 100,000 people with 104 cases recorded.

The infection rate in Wychavon was 119 with 154 cases compared to 95 per 100,000 people a week earlier when 123 cases were recorded.

Malvern’s infection rate was 102.9 per 100,000 people with 81 cases recorded in the seven days compared to 71.2 per 100,000 people and 56 cases a week earlier.

Wyre Forest’s infection rate increased to 128.3 per 100,000 people in the week up to October 26 compared to 81 a week earlier.

The number of cases recorded was 130 compared to 81 a week earlier.

The infection rate in Dudley, which would have entered tier 2, was 260.6 and the rate in South Staffordshire was 401.1 during the week. The rate in Birmingham was 276.4 in the same period.

For comparison, the infection rate in Nottingham – which had moved into the ‘very high’ tier 3 - was 439.5 during the same week.
