PARENTS of children at a Worcester school have been asked to wear face coverings when on school premises.
Red Hill Primary School announced in a newsletter this evening that mums, dads and carers will be expected to wear facemasks when collecting and dropping off children.
Headteacher of the school, Spencer Morris said in the letter: "Today's local and national news shows a concerning picture with the rise of positive cases of COVID-19. Since September, some 40 schools and colleges (20%) in Worcestershire have closed down bubbles at some point this term.
"As per government directives, we will only close bubbles at Red Hill IF a positive test is recorded by a child or staff member of Red Hill. Our school attendance continues to be excellent; we are currently well above the national average, running at 97.44%.
"Due to this news, to protect our pupils and our staff and keep our attendance high, we are asking from Monday for all parents and carers to wear a face covering once on site. This will be for everyone's safety, including the most vulnerable members of our school community.
"Thanks to everyone who continues to socially distance as they wait for their children to leave school - please keep the area outside of the gates clear once you have collected your child.
"There have been some group gatherings of adults in the waiting area of the car park; my text message reminder yesterday seemed to do the trick! Many thanks to Worcestershire County Council for testing out their social distancing signs in Midhurst Close and our car park too."
