A SCARED boy is still recovering after being threatened with a knife "by a 10-year-old" outside a community centre in Worcester.
Ethan Jacob, 12, says he was sitting on a wall outside the Warndon Community Hub with friends when they were approached by a boy in a ski mask wielding a "cheese knife".
Ethan's mum, Elaine, said: "My son was sat down on a bench with a group of friends on Saturday when a boy approached them dressed in a ski mask with the eyes cut out, wearing dark joggers and a hoodie with a man bag over his shoulders.
"He then pulled out a knife and started waving it around, but didn't say anything to anyone. He then grabbed my son's bike and fled. So the group chased him but he got away.
"When Ethan phoned me I came rushing down to the chip shop, my daughter then called to say her boyfriend had seen the boy riding Ethan's bike down by the Spar. That is when we found the bike, but it was damaged beyond repair.
"I am so shocked that a child is out waving a knife around, it is not something that you expect to happen to one of your own. We are both in shock and very annoyed."
Ethan added: "He came up to us with a cheese knife, he was waving it around but not saying anything. Then he grabbed my bike and rode off. It was scary, one of my friends thought he knew the boy who stole the bike, he's 10 and well known for stealing things that aren't his.
"I have taken the day off school today (Monday) because I can't face it. I'm really angry about my bike, I used it to get everywhere."
The incident was reported to West Mercia Police.
A force spokesman said: "We were called at approximately 5.40pm on Saturday (October 10) to reports of a 12-year-old boy being approached by another boy who threatened him with a knife before taking his bicycle on Shap Drive, Worcester.
"The boy received no injuries and the bicycle was later recovered."
Chief Inspector Gareth Morgan said: "We understand this is a very distressing situation for the boy involved. We believe this to be an isolated incident and are not looking for anyone in connection to it, our investigations are ongoing.
"I would encourage anyone with information to submit it online via the Tell Us About section our website www.westmercia.pnn.police.uk quoting reference 473 i 10 October."
