THERE was a single coronavirus related death in the entire county in the latest week for which data has been made available.

The latest Office of National Statistics (ONS) all settings figures shows the single death - with Covid-19 mentioned on the death certificate - was a Bromsgrove resident in hospital.

The figures, which cover the week up to August 7, show there were no deaths in the county in a care home, a hospice, a communal establishment or elsewhere.

The single death represents a dramatic downward trend since the height of the pandemic, when around 100 Worcestershire people a week were dying in all settings.

Figures show Bromsgrove is the worst hit area of the county by the pandemic but, before the latest death, there had been no coronavirus deaths at all throughout July.

The latest ONS data reveals that in total 529 Worcestershire people, classed as having Covid-19, had died up to August 7. They include:

134 Bromsgrove residents: 75 in hospital, 54 in a care home, four elsewhere and one in a communal establishment.

115 Wyre Forest residents; 65 in hospital, 39 in a care home, nine at home and two in a communal establishment.

110 Wychavon residents; 49 in a care home, 49 in hospital, five at home, four in a communal establishment, two in a hospice and one elsewhere.

63 people from Worcester; 29 in hospital, 27 in a care home, four at home, two in a communal establishment and one in a hospice.

60 people from Redditch; 49 in hospital, eight in a care home, two at home, and one in a communal establishment.

47 people from Malvern; 24 in hospital, 20 in a care home, two at home and one in a communal establishment.
