A COUPLE has celebrated their diamond wedding after being apart for three months during lockdown.

Roy, 82, and Margaret,78, Welch were finally reunited at Latimer Court care home, where he lives.

Margaret said: “After 60 years of marriage, as long as you work together, you can get through anything.”

Staff at the Worcester home made sure the reunion was safely-managed with an exchange of gifts and time for reminiscing with their daughter, Andrea, as well as sipping some bubbly - which they all “thoroughly enjoyed.”

The loved-up couple got married on the July 9, 1960 at St George’s Church in Barbourne and Margaret worked as a receptionist for around 20 years at the Worcester Evening News.

The couple have two children and four grandchildren.

Before the pandemic, Margaret and the family would visit Roy regularly. But when visiting was stopped to keep everyone safe, they could only communicate on FaceTime, which was not quite the same.
