A RESIDENT is outraged over what he claims is an increase in littering near to where he lives during lockdown.
Colin Goldfinch has collected around five bags of rubbish - including one containing a used sanitary product - in a children’s play area near to Trotshill Community Orchard.
Mr Goldfinch, 54, from Warndon Villages, said: “About a month ago I noticed a rise in litter so decided that instead of just moaning I would clear it up.
“Several children had done some picking which helped inspire/shame us.
“The amount of litter has gone up loads in the last two weeks.
“The used panty liner was just dumped in the bushes by a play area - I thought it was just a wet wipe at first.
“My wife and I both think it’s awful in so many ways - a new low.
“The main road through the villages, Woodgreen Drive, is the worst probably from drivers throwing stuff out the windows.”
City and county councillor Andy Roberts said: “During this period of lockdown, we’ve really seen the community spirit and for people to go against the hard work of members of the community who have supported one another, including litter picking, is bad.

“For people to dump more waste including a used sanitary item near to a playground, is doubly bad.”
A Worcester City Council spokesman said: “Fly tipping incidents should be reported at www.worcester.gov.uk/report-it.
“Dumped rubbish may contain hazardous material, so it is always best for it to be removed in line with the correct procedures.”
The charity Keep Britain Tidy has said more than a million instances of fly-tipping were dealt with by councils each year, with an excess clear-up cost of £58million in total.
