A TOY shop owner has said she’s excited to reopen her store following the coronavirus lockdown.

Toys & Games Of Worcester will reopen its doors to the public today after weeks of being shut due to the pandemic.

Despite the store being forced to shut its doors, the family owned business, based in Broad Street, remained open for deliveries and collections.

Owner Vicky Evans said: “We’re really looking forward to seeing everyone again. We miss the contact with people, perhaps more than most, which is why we do this.

“We’ll still be delivering and still available for order and collect and have implemented the Covid-19 guidelines. We’re still available for distance shopping through Facebook and our website but it’ll be good to have the store open.

“Unfortunately, our staff won’t be back yet until we know what we’re opening up to. We miss those equally.”

The shop will reopen at 9.30am, where customers will find marked out two metre spacings, a one-way system and a sanitizer station by the front door.

The store posted on its Facebook page: “We respectfully ask customers to wear face coverings if possible and minimise handling of stock. We have already completed a risk assessment which will be on view in the shop.”

The milkshake bar, Shakeaway in Pump Street, reopens from 11am to 5pm daily on June 19.

They said: “We are delighted to be able to announce that we will be reopening. Our full menu is available as before and we will also be launching our Summer Menu. We can’t wait to see you.”

Maggs Day Centre, in Deansway, will reopen tomorrow (June 16) to provide support for rough sleepers. The centre will maintain social distancing rules and will operate an appointment only service, Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm.

Rough sleepers will be able to shower and wash their clothes during these appointment times.

Mel Kirk chief executive said: “Although day centres may have been closed, the county’s outreach teams have been continuing to support rough sleepers throughout lockdown.

“They have been offering the same daily service for people who continue to live on the streets, making sure that they remain well and supporting them with anything they need.”
