A PROTEST has taken place over the weekend to pay respects to George Floyd, the unarmed American who died at the hands of police in Minneapolis.
Attendees gathered at the foot of the Malvern Hills, going down on one knee, while keeping socially distanced.
Sophie Croft, speaking on a community Facebook group, said: "It was overwhelming to see so many people gather together this morning in a peaceful protest.
"People gathered together to support the Black Lives Matter movement - there were some incredibly brave speakers who spoke about their own experiences of being black as well as a mother of a mixed race child - it sent chills down my spine.
"Today, we knelt in respect of George Floyd, one of the many many black people who have lost their lives because of white people - why would anybody take another’s life because of the colour of their skin.
"As humans, we all are born the same way and we all die the same, we have the same blood, the same bones and the same brains - why is the colour of our skin any different?
"To think that i am looked at differently than my black friends makes my stomach turn. people should be kind and love one another regardless of race, ethnicity or religion."
