A FRONTLINE A&E worker and mother of two has shared her disgust at her son’s bike being stolen from their locked shed.
Katie Farnsworth, 32, has launched a desperate appeal to try and find out what has happened to the two bikes stolen from her son, Ethan, 9 and husband Alex.
Her other son, Max, 5 also had his bike taken although his was left behind in a nearby hedge.
Mrs Farnsworth, of Windermere Drive, said: “My husband and eldest son went to get the bikes from our locked shed on Saturday so we could go for a family bike ride on one of my rare days off.
“The look on Ethan’s face when he saw that his brand new bike had been taken! He was distraught, heartbroken and devastated, it is a look we can’t stop seeing. Max is more angry they threw his bike in the bush in front of the shed.
“We are all so angry and frustrated about the situation because he had only had the bike two days before it was taken. We feel that someone local must have seen the bikes or know something as the bikes had always been kept in a locked shed with no concerns and within a few days of our eldest getting his new bike it was taken.
“As an A&E front line worker when we do get days off as a family the children wanted to be able to go on bike rides as it is something they enjoy doing and allows us some much needed family quality time. The children do not feel safe in the house now and feel nervous about going into the garden on their own when they would play for hours before.
“It has left Ethan nervous. He is constantly checking things are locked. The cars, doors on the house, shed and gate as he is worried they are going to come back.”
This theft comes after a spate of recent bicycle thefts.
According to police in the morning hours of April 29, two bicycles were stolen from a house on the Hill Avenue. One was a race bike in black and the other was a mountain bike in white, blue handle bars and red/yellow tyre rims.
A further two bikes were stolen from a property in Bronsil Close. Police say these thefts happened between the hours of 6pm on May 3 and 9am on May 4. The bikes are a Clockwork in orange and Apollo in blue.
If you have any information about any of the above thefts you can contact police on 101.
