WORCESTER Foodbank has praised the public for their support during rhe coronavirus crisis.
Grahame Lucas, Worcester Foodbank manager, said: "The support we’ve received from the community has been incredible and that’s enabled us to cope with unprecedented demand.
"Coronavirus has allowed poverty to deepen its roots in our city and take a grip of people’s lives that are facing hunger for the very first time.
"It’s going to take a long time to repair the damage but we’re determined to keep helping people on the road to recovery.
"During the first three weeks of April 2020 we fed 884 people - that’s already surpassed the 645 hungry mouths we fed during the entire month of April last year.
"We’ve seen a marked increase in donations of money which is a great way to help us too - it frees up funds for us to buy items we’re running short of.
"People can find details of how to donate online on our website."
