AN education service has been nominated for the Community Involvement Award as part of this year’s Worcestershire Education Awards.
Discover History, which was formed in 2003, has been praised for “making history fun and interesting for all ages and abilities.”
Hazel Harding, who submitted the nomination, said in the form: “They’ve adapted to Covid-19 amazingly.
“With Covid-19 destroying their work face-to-face in care homes, schools, clubs, societies and heritage attractions they kept calm and decided to continue educating the masses for free over the internet.
“On the first day of lockdown they published their first YouTube video. To this date over 30 videos are online.
“Local History videos, fun games, children’s crafts, cookery lessons, stories, historical character meets and lots more.
“Home schooling children are watching them, adults enjoy them, and everyone is taking part.”
The service is run by Paul and Helen Harding.
The pair said after being nominated: “We are extremely proud to have been nominated for the 2020 Worcestershire Education Awards.
“Despite Helen going into hospital at the end of last year and with Covid-19 preventing us working face-to-face, we have adapted and currently busy producing Home Schooling videos on YouTube for people to view for free in the safety and comfort of their own home.
“We wish to thank those who have nominated us and supported us, as a small business during these recent and more difficult times.”
