A WOMAN has called for a ‘dangerous’ pavement to be restored.
Mirren Brewer, from Droitwich, is calling for Worcestershire County Council to remove the foliage on the footpath in Stoke Road, Wychbold, which is overgrown and causing difficulty for pedestrians.
Mrs Brewer, aged 36, said: “As you turn right at the top of Chequers Lane in Wychbold and head down Stoke Road towards the Liberty Leisure Centre, the footpath that once existed has been neglected by the council for so many years that it is now totally overgrown with foliage.
“It is completely unusable and makes walking along this part of Stoke Road incredibly dangerous.
"I feel this is unacceptable and it’s only a matter of time before there is a tragic accident.
“It’s an absolute disgrace that it was neglected to such an extent in the first place. It is only right that people should be able to walk along a very busy road safely, especially in difficult times like this, when people are out walking more than ever.”

Mrs Brewer has reported the issue to the council twice.
She set up a petition on Saturday and so far, 85 people have signed it. To see the petition, go to www.change.org/p/wychavon-council-and-highways-agency-make-the-footpath-useable-along-stoke-road
She added: “It’s a disgrace. We pay our council tax for things like this to be maintained."
She said the whole of the hedgerow needs to be cut back to reveal the pavement again.
A spokesman from the council said: “We have contacted the caller and discussed the issues regarding this footway, as we’re aware that a petition has been raised regarding the appearance of the area.
"We will look into the local residents concerns and after a site inspection today, our searches team have been updated on the situation, to help take it forward.
"Photographs have been also taken to begin the research process at the location to decide on future actions.”
