A TOTAL of 177 hospital patients with Covid-19 have died in Worcestershire.

NHS England has announced 10 deaths at Worcestershire Acute Hospital Trust hospitals, bringing its total to 160.

And a further death has also been reported by Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, taking its total to 17.

The figures are the latest provided by the public body, and correct as of April 23.

The acute hospital trust covers Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Evesham Community Hospital as well as the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch and Kidderminster Hospital.

The health and care NHS trust covers community hospitals and rehabilitation wards, including Worcester City Impatient Unit, Malvern Community Hospital, Evesham Community Hospital, Pershore Community Hospital, the Princess of Wales Community Hospital in Bromsgrove, Tenbury Community Hospital and the Wye Forest Ward.

The 11 new deaths are included in the 514 nationally, who died after testing positive for coronavirus - that has brought the overall total number of confirmed reported deaths in England to 16,786.

The NHS says the patients who died across the country were aged between 31 and 100 years old, with 16 of the 514 patients who were aged between 37 and 92 years old, having no known underlying health condition.
