PARENTS of pupils at RGS Springfield have defended the school after others complained about being asked to continue to pay full tuition fees during the lockdown closure.

This comes after parents of children at RGS Worcester said they were frustrated that the school said it needed to keep charging full fees in order to survive, despite their children being at home.

John Pound, whose son attends the private school in Britannia Square, said: “Our son has been at RGS Springfield since he was three, he is now in year six and we have always been really pleased with the education he receives.

“The current situation is difficult for everyone, I think the school has been amazing in the range and quality of the full teaching day they have provided, online.

"The full usual curriculum has been covered, live lessons via Google Meet using school iPads. They really have done all they can to minimise disruption to the children. They have said any savings will be passed on if possible. They are being fair, transparent and prudent in my view.”

Another parent, who has two daughters at the school, who doesn’t want to be named, said: “I feel RGS Springfield have done an amazing job. They have continued to support my daughter’s academic progress but given significant importance to her mental health and wellbeing in this situation.

"I am more than happy to continue to pay fees at the correct level, (minus lunches as agreed). They have continued to educate and care for my child fully.

“My daughter in nursery has had a story read to her everyday via her teachers. They have provided a wealth of creative ideas, videos and songs to support the children and parents at home.

“They sent home a pack of papers with recipes on, card to cut out to make eater cards and counting games. Again, above and beyond what I was expecting. I am not being charged for any nursery fees which seems very fair. Our experience of RGS Springfield and all of its staff is that it is as amazing in the virtual world as it is in the real world.”
