WORCESTERSHIRE MPs have wished the Prime Minister a speedy recovery after he was admitted to hospital with coronavirus.
Boris Johnson was taken to St Thomas' Hospital in London as a precaution on Sunday evening for tests due to persistent coronavirus symptoms. The Prime Minister, diagnosed 10 days before admission, told Twitter followers: "I’m in good spirits and keeping in touch with my team, as we work together to fight this virus and keep everyone safe."
Worcester MP Robin Walker said he was ‘obviously concerned'. He added: “In a situation like this we want him back and fighting fit as soon as possible and I absolutely wish him the best for a speedy recovery.
“It’s a reminder that this horrible virus is indiscriminate. It can affect absolutely everybody.”
He said the Prime Minister had been working ‘extremely hard’ using Zoom to hold cabinet meetings but that it was vital Mr Johnson now has a break and returns in full health with others ready to step up to the plate. He said the situation must also be a ‘huge strain on his family, those around him and his unborn child who need him back’.
Harriett Baldwin, MP for West Worcestershire, said: “I want to wish our Prime Minister all the best as he undergoes tests in hospital today. I am pleased that his fiancée has made a good recovery and I hope the Prime Minster recovers soon. He has been working night and day across Government to deal with this serious situation and I hope he gets the chance to rest as we all work together to beat this virus by staying at home to work.”
Nigel Huddleston, MP for Mid Worcestershire, said: “Thank you Prime Minister for continuing to lead the country while battling with the virus – no small task. I send you best wishes for a speedy recovery and a fast return to No 10.”
