REGISTRATION offices in the county have closed to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Worcester Register Office, based at County Hall in Worcester, closed its doors to the public as well as six other such sites closing in Worcestershire under Government measures.
From tomorrow, regulations have been introduced which enable deaths to be registered in a different way that usual, by the The Coronavirus Act 2020.
The act has brought in a number of measures to assist with the process between a person dying and their funeral.
Anyone needing to register a death will have to book a telephone registration and a registrar will then call on the chosen date/time to register the death.
The form for the funeral will then be sent directly to the funeral director, instead of the usual practice of collecting it from the registrar.
Birth and notice of marriage appointments have been suspended until further notice.
Those usually requiring to register a birth in order to make application for benefits are now able to do so without registering the birth.
Worcestershire County Council is following advice on the cancellation of ceremonies from the Prime Minister and it is uncertain when this will change as the country is expected to be in the grip of the coronavirus pandemic for some months to come.

"Whilst the offices are closed to the public, the team are working as normal delivering the service in this way."
Boris Johnson is writing to every household in the UK to urge the public to obey the lockdown and stay home during the coronavirus “national emergency”.
In the letter, Mr Johnson said “everyday life in this country has changed dramatically."
