A BODY has been found in search for a missing Worcester man.
Officers have recovered a body in their search for missing Iain Farrimond, aged 57.
The father-of-one was jailed after attempting to kill his wife Tina with a kitchen knife and a wooden ornament, before stabbing himself on the eve of their wedding anniversary in May 2016.
The former senior prosecutor who was suffering from severe depression triggered by stress at work believed his wife would not cope if he killed himself.
He admitted attempted murder and was jailed for six years at Nottingham Crown Court in September 2016.
Detective Ollie Moore said: “Following formal identification and the next of kin informed, I can confirm that the body Iain Farrimond was recovered from Gullet Quarry last night (Monday 23 March).
“Iain went missing on Friday 20 March and following an exhaustive search by rescue teams we have sadly recovered his body.
“His death is not being considered suspicious.
“Our thoughts are with his family at this terribly sad time and I would like to thank everyone who shared our appeals.”
The tribunal heard his wife, who recovered from her injuries including five stab wounds and a fractured eye-socket, had enjoyed a "remarkably successful" recovery from her injuries, remained supportive of her husband.
A solicitors' disciplinary tribunal found Mr Farrimond had damaged the reputation of the legal profession, but said it had "considerable sympathy" for him.
It decided he should be suspended indefinitely, but not struck off, as there was a "realistic prospect" he may recover and be able to return to his work.
The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) challenged the tribunal's decision at London's High Court.
Mr Farrimond, of Battenhall Road, was subsequently struck off as a solicitor following the assault.
Mr Farrimond was also known in the Malvern area.
