AN EMAIL has been sent to parents at a primary school in the county, warning that a "member of our school community" has come into "close contact with someone who has tested positive to having the coronavirus".
We have seen a copy of the email, and its authenticity has been confirmed by a spokesman for Worcestershire County Council.
The email was circulated to some 200 parents on March 9, whose children attend Claines Church of England Primary School in Fernhill Heath.
The email, signed by head teacher Simon Gent goes on to state: “The family has not experienced any symptoms to date but have been asked to not attend school until the incubation period ends, as a precautionary measure.
“Over recent weeks, we have refocused our cleaning routines at school, and reminded children to practise good hygiene, including effective handwashing.
“We continue to follow guidance from Public Health England and the Department for Education, and they have this morning confirmed that no further actions need to be taken at present.Kind regards, Mr Gent."
A spokesman for Claines Primary School said: “A member of the school community has been contacted by Public Health England, to notify them that they have recently been in contact with someone who has tested positive to having the coronavirus.
“The family has not experienced any symptoms but have been asked to not attend school until the incubation period ends, as a precautionary measure.
“The school will continue to follow guidance from Public Health England and the Department for Education.”
Public Health England have said no one has tested positive in Worcestershire for coronavirus and 15 people nationally are awaiting a diagnoses of the virus as went to print yesterday.
