A NIGHTCLUB manager who almost lost his license claims ‘everything has changed’ since he hired a new security company.
Alexander Fell, owner of Alexander's Nightclub and The Brickroom in New Street, hired Severn Security Services Ltd after the club was threatened with losing its license in December 2018.
Mr Fell said: “We were fortunate and grateful when Worcester City Council’s licensing committee allowed us to retain our licence after the police had pressed for it to be withdrawn.
“Just over 12 months on, everything has changed. The security team are the most professional that I have come across in the five plus years that we have had the club; together we have implemented all of the extra licence conditions imposed and added some extra measures of our own.

“The absence of incidents and trouble at the club since the very first weekend is testament to the professionalism of the team and the changes that we have made and continually review.”
Mr Fell said the club has enforced ‘Challenge 25’ to prevent underage drinking and through local intelligence from the security company’s network of venues the club has also seen a reduction in trouble at the door.
Mr Fell added: “Knowing that we are meeting all of our license criteria consistently and that we are trouble free, I have been given the confidence to expand and develop the club.
“It’s really exciting times for the club and I just wish I had found this security team five years ago. I love knowing that any issues at the club will be taken care of in the most professional way possible, and that my customers and staff’s safety is paramount to them.”
Norm Stephens, operations manager at Alexander's Nightclub, posted on Facebook: “When we took over, the venue had just managed to hold on to its licence after a dogged effort by the local police to have it removed.
“The keeping of the licence brought with it a number of very stringent licensing conditions to be implemented by club owner Alexander Fell and the new security team. 12 months on, and the venue has been transformed in terms of customer safety and licensing enforcement.”
Mr Stephens added: "This has always been a great club, but it would be safe to say the security wasn't at its best until Severn Security took over."
