SCHOOLBOYS have raised more than £700 for a sanctuary in Liberia that looks after orphaned baby chimps.
Doogal Barnett, nine, and brother Fergus Barnett, seven, asked their school to run a ‘dress up as an animal day’ to raise money for the chimps after watching ‘Baby Chimp Rescue.’
Adrain Pratley, headmaster at Hanley Swan primary school, said: “It was so wonderful seeing the whole school dressed up as animals supporting Doogal and Fergus’ fund raising efforts. We are so proud of them organising such a fantastic day and the money that they have raised for such a worthwhile cause.”
Mum Gina Barnett said the boys had also collected from Upton Cub Scouts and their swimming club at Malvern Active.
She added: "They have raised in total an amazing £712.50. The dress up as an animal day was amazing. The playground was full of children dressed up as animals of all different kinds and the teachers had all dressed up too."
