PAST winners, sponsors and organisers gathered yesterday for the launch of this year's Worcestershire Education Awards.
The awards, which celebrate top teachers, support staff, schools, colleges and anyone who works or volunteers in the education industry across the county, kicked off for 2020 at the University of Worcester Arena.
Gary Woodman, chief executive of the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, one of the sponsors, said: “It is really important we recognise the work and contribution of teachers and schools as it it absolutely crucial.”
Rob Harrison, from Perryfields Primary Pupil Referral Unit, winners of last year’s Primary School of the Year award, said: “This award was really special as it shows parents and pupils that they will get a good education.”
Nominations are now open and 30 have been submitted already for the awards, which are run by the Worcester News in partnership with the University of Worcester.
Worcester News editor Michael Purton said: "This is the fourth year of the awards and they get more support and nominations each time, which shows how highly our county values great education.”
Finalists will be invited to a black die dinner at the University Arena on Thursday June 25 where winners will be announced.
