A GRANDMOTHER was a few inches away from being seriously hurt when a van crashed into the front of her car.
Pauline Ellis, who is 86, was driving home on the B4202 between Martley and Lower Broadheath when she says a van came round the corner travelling too fast, hitting her car head on.
The crash caused substantial damage to her car, smashing the driver’s side window and scraping all down the side.
As a result, the car has now been written off, and she will have to get a new one.
Mrs Ellis was luckily not seriously hurt in the crash, but she was showered with glass and covered in small cuts as the driver’s side window was smashed.

She said: “The van came round the bend at a very high speed - the couple behind me said it looked like he was doing 100 mph, and it took the side off the car.
“I wasn’t badly hurt, just very shocked and with lots of small cuts, but another few inches either side and it could have been different.
“The car is a write-off so I will have to look for another one now, it completely sheared the tyre off too.”
Shocking photos show the damage caused to Mrs Ellis’ car on February 2 and she is hoping the driver of the van can be found if her story is told.
She said: “The police said because it is in such a rural area, there are no CCTV cameras around.

“They were travelling towards Worcester and the young man in the car behind me gave a very good description of it - it was a large silver van.
“I wouldn’t have believed it was possible to go that fast, it completely buckled the tyre on the driver’s side.
“I want to find them not because of revenge or anything, but because people should be aware of it because it is awful - I have never seen anything like it.”
Anyone who has information or thinks they know the identity of the van driver, you can contact West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 465S020220.
