A POPULAR family pub says it will welcome dogs into the pub from now on.
The Barn Owl, in Warndon, told followers of its Facebook page that they are now officially “dog friendly.”
Manager Amy Souten, 32, said: “I have grown up with dogs my whole life, I can’t imagine a world without them, I think that they bring so much joy and happiness to everyone.
"I want the Barn Owl to be open to the whole community, dogs are a massive part of people’s lives and it makes sense to allow dog walkers to come in for a drink or something to eat after a long walk.”
However, there was a mixed reaction from the pub's customers.
Writing on the pub's facebook page, Sandra Burton said: “Dogs shouldn’t be allowed in pubs with food.”
Sue Purcell said: “Not for me sorry all you lovely doggie owners, our family won’t be coming again. I just object to animals within a restaurant environment I’m guessing there are bound to be a difference of opinion.”
Kyle Thornelow said: “Let’s just hope the dogs don’t get loose and start trying to rob food off people.”
While Joanne Collingwood said: “Well that’ll stop me from coming then. Really allergic. What a nightmare.”

However, others were more supportive of the idea.
Valerie Campbell said: “Well done.”
While Adam Hastings said: “Brill. Made some great changes recently. Pool, darts, TV and now dogs. Fair play.”
Carole Price said: “Excellent news”
Joshua Ince, assistant manager, 21, said at no dogs will be allowed in the restaurant section of the pub.
He said: “The reaction from people has been mostly really positive. We get a lot of people in here, particularly in the summer time who have shown an interest in being able to bring their dogs in.
“We aim to give our customers what they want, although some people understandably have reservations. I feel like this change is good and not something that a lot of other pubs in the area offer; making us stand out.
“I want to assure people that dogs will be completely separated from diners and food preparation areas. Dogs will only be allowed in the bar area and a separate small seating area next to our large garden.”
