A WOMAN who won the Unsung Hero category at the Worcestershire Education Awards 2019 says she felt overwhelmed to have been crowned winner.
Margaret Jones is Fort Royal Community Primary School’s grants and funding administrator.
She has been involved with the school for nine years, having originally moved to the area in the 1970s as a school nurse.
Mrs Jones said: “It was a real honour to be nominated for the Worcestershire Education Awards. I love the job I do and every one of the nominees works with passion and flair in the fields they were nominated for. I was quite overwhelmed when I was chosen by the panel to be their unsung hero.

“The award wasn’t just for me but the whole team at Fort Royal School who go the extra mile to support our children with complex needs to achieve the very best that they can and provide the extras that can help make a difference to their learning opportunities.”
In her nomination, it said: “Margaret has been working tirelessly and with much dedication supporting local families with vulnerable and disabled children for at least the last two decades.”
Mrs Jones said the nomination made a difference to morale at the school, in Wyld’s Lane, and also recognised the teachers' hard work and commitment.
She added: “For the community at large, parents, grandparents, staff and governors to have either an individual or their school nominated really can make a huge difference to morale in recognising the commitment made to make a difference in education across Worcestershire.”
The awards scheme celebrates the hard work and dedication by individuals or organisations in education across Worcestershire
