A WIFE has praised hospital staff for the way they cared for her husband, Broadway Parish council chairman Barrie Parmenter, after he had a heart attack.
Mr Parmenter has been recovering at his Broadway home after spending new year at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, with wife Jill saying he is now doing well.
But she said it could have been a lot more serious if had not been for the "outstanding" treatment the 78-year-old received from NHS staff.
Mrs Parmenter said Cllr Parmenter's heart attack happened at their Lifford Gardens home on December 28.
"He felt pains, and we thought it was indigestion," she said.

"He phoned 111, and the operator worked out he needed an ambulance - they were outstanding.
"The ambulance crew stayed to see if he was alright.
"When I arrived at Worcestershire Royal a team had been waiting for my husband and he was operated on immediately.
"He was in intensive care, but the doctor explained everything, showed me diagrams, showed me the care he was receiving
"The doctors and nurses on ward CUU were absolutely wonderful and we cannot thank all the staff enough."
Mrs Parmenter said after the operation went well, with a stent inserted, the councillor was then able to return home and rest on New Year's Day.
Mrs Parmenter said: "It could have been so much more serious.
"People talk about going private, but it was brilliant care."
Mrs Parmenter added that the chairman was expected to miss January's council meeting, but would hopefully be resuming duties early in the new year.
A spokesperson for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust said: "Our dedicated staff work day in, day out to provide the best possible care to patients, so we’re delighted to hear that the outcome in Mr Parmenter’s case has been so positive.
"We will be sure to share his thanks with the team involved in his care, and wish him well in his recovery.”
