Box Office: 01905 770154 Website: www.norburytheatre.co.uk Tickets also available online from www.ticketweb.co.uk And 24 hour booking on 08700 600 100 This classic is being brought to life with excitement and energy by the Norbury Theatre Youth Section. Based on the 1976 film (that first brought the likes of Scott Baio, Jodie Foster and even Bonnie Langford to our screens) which in turn was loosely based on events in Chicago, Illinois in the Prohibition era, specifically, the exploits of gangsters like Al Capone as dramatized in cinema. Alan Parker and Paul William's film and stage adaptation has been a firm favourite with schools and youth drama groups.
Bugsy Malone tells of the rivalry between two groups of gangsters with exceptional slapstick humour. A young member of New York kingpin Fat Sam's outfit is cornered by rival hoods. They question him, then-splat! He is 'splurged' with a mysterious new weapon that fires whipped cream! Narrated by our 'hero', Bugsy himself. It's on to "Fat Sam's Grand Slam," where Bugsy is smitten with Blousey, the new girl in town. Suddenly the hoods enter again and splurge! Fat Sam tries to calm his customers then calls his boys together for a meeting to plan a defence against the new splurge guns and their mastermind, Dandy Dan!
Will Bugsy get the girl? will Fat Sam be able to defeat Dandy Dan, Will Blousy ever get her big break?
"It's always a huge hit whenever we stage a production of Bugsy and this will be no exception, the musical abounds with fun and laughter that can only be infectious" Paul Wood, Youth Theatre Leader Bugsy Malone is on at the Norbury Theatre, Droitwich Spa from 14th - 17th November at 7.30pm Tickets are £7.50 (£6.50 Concessions).
