THIS is the sad sight that greeted visitors to Cripplegate Park one morning in May 1996, after vandals went on the rampage which saw wooden benches thrown into flower beds and flowers uprooted. The incident, coming on top of another spate of damage just weeks previously, lead to calls from leading councillor Derek Prodger for security guards to he brought in to patrol the park.
