FLOODING and surface water has been reported in and around Worcester after yellow weather warnings for persistent rain and snow, have been issued by the Met Office this morning.
Rain is likely to affect much of the county just weeks after River Severn levels in Worcester rose to their highest since 2014, while the likes of Malvern, Ledbury and Bromyard could all be hit with snow today.
Roads around Bromyard, Suckley, Knightwick are "almost impassable" due to "water running off the fields", one motorist wrote on Twitter this morning.
Another said, "loads of surface water around on my drive in" while she'd been told "traffic at Powick very bad".
The rain warning was put in place at midnight and runs until 11.45pm tonight.
While the snow warning was put in place at 9.26pm yesterday and runs until 10am today.
The Met Office has said: "Some roads and railways likely to be affected by lying snow, with longer journey times by road, bus and train."
Worcestershire County Council highways department has tweeted: "Many instances of standing water on roads across Worcestershire this morning. Please allow extra travel time and drive to conditions."
Dave Throup, Environment Agency manager for Herefordshire and Worcestershire, has warned commuters to "take extreme care if travelling this morning".
He said estimated rainfall in west Worcestershire, south Shropshire and north Herefordshire is at 25-30mm and another 15-30mm is likely through the day.
