FLOOD alerts have been renewed across south Worcestershire afther further heavy rainfall.
Dave Throup of the Environment Agency said that the flood gates at Waterside in Upton were closed last night as the Severn continued to rise.
A flood warning calling for immediate action was issued for Evesham early this morning.
It said the level of the Avon at Evesham has risen as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is expected from this morning.
Flooding is affecting properties and roads in the Waterside Road area as well as the car park on the meadow. Predicted peak: Evesham 2.9m to 3.1m this morning. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. We expect river levels to continue to rise throughout this morning.
Flooding is also affecting properties and roads around Mill Lane, Strensham.
Flooding is affecting properties and roads in Wyre Piddle including Wyre Piddle caravan park. Eckington Road impassable.
A spokesman said: "We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences. Please avoid contact with flood water and move possession and valuables off the ground or to safety. This message will be updated by 5pm today, or as the situation changes."
