AS votes for our Pub of the Year begin to flood in, one of the watering holes in the running for the prize is the New Inn.

Our Pub of the Year contest sees readers voting for their favourite establishment in the city, with the winning landlord receiving a trophy and being invited to parliament by Worcester MP Robin Walker.

Sam Cleaveley, landlord of the Claines watering hole, said he was encouraging people to get their votes in for them, particularly as they have been going from strength-to-strength this year.

“We have just had a refurbishment, and in the opening week it has been really busy,” Mr Cleaveley said.

“It was overdue, and we have had lots of positive feedback.

“We are seen as the hub of Claines especially more so now with not many pubs being open around the Claines area.

“We have darts and football teams, we are a community hub.”

Anyone can vote for their Pub of the Year, whether a member of staff or a loyal customer, but we only accept slips cut out from the newspaper as votes to ensure a fair competition. Post them to Pub of the Year, Worcester News, Hylton Road, WR2 5JX, by the end of Friday December 20.

The voting slip will be published each week, with nominated pubs profiled. The winner will be announced in the newspaper and on our website on Christmas Eve.

If you’d like your favourite pub to be featured, email michael.purton@newsquest.co.uk.
