A WOMAN smashed a window at her cousin’s flat where she’d been living after being kicked out.
Jodie Pegler had been arguing with her relative before being booted out along with her possessions which were thrown out of an upstairs window onto the front lawn.
The 24-year-old, who was described as “in drink” at the time by her solicitor, threw some of her own possessions back at the Fortis Living-owned building in anger, smashing a window.
Emily Clewer, prosecuting, said the defendant had returned to the property in Tolladine, Worcester, around 11.30pm on August 12, having been asked to leave earlier that day. She was hoping to collect her belongings and began shouting up to her cousin’s flat, to “get her to come out”.
Pegler’s cousin then “dropped her belongings out of the window” before she “threw some at the property up to the window, smashing it and ran off”.
The police were called and quickly tracked down the defendant and arrested her.
Pegler is listed by the court as living in Infirmary Walk, Worcester, but during her hearing at magistrates court yesterday said she has now moved to Park Street, Kidderminster.
Mark Stanley, defending, said his client was confusingly de-arrested after being detained by police and wasn’t interviewed for 18 days, when he was present, having voluntarily gone to the station.
She had at that point fully admitted to the offence and was charged with criminal damage to property valued under £5,000.
The solicitor said Pegler had been staying at her cousin’s home because “there was an issue in this defendant’s life and she needed somewhere to stay”. He said the arguments were only ever verbal in nature on the day in question. Pegler was given a conditional discharge and ordered to pay £60 compensation to Fortis.
