A DAIRY farm has been given permission to host an open air cinema and live music as well as sell alcohol despite objections from concerned neighbours.
Churchfields Farm wanted to update its licence so it could host a twice-yearly open air cinema in its grounds.
The well-known dairy farm, in Salwarpe near Droitwich, was also given permission to play music and host live music indoors and outdoors as well as sell alcohol and late-night refreshments as part of events by Wychavon District Council’s licensing subcommittee.
The application attracted several objections from neighbours who said they were concerned by noise and the potential nuisance caused by selling alcohol.
The farm said it was “delighted” to receive the backing of the council and would work with specialists to ensure noise was kept to a minimum.
Will Kerton, of Churchfields Farm, said: “We are a family-run farm and offer a warm welcome to all visitors coming to Churchfields. We’re delighted that we can continue to provide the community with exciting events on the farm, which have proven popular locally.

“Naturally, we take concerns from neighbours extremely seriously, and are working with specialists to ensure that noise is kept under control as much as possible, at all future outdoor events.”
The farm can now screen films on Saturday and Sunday between midday and 11pm, play music and host live music between 8.30am and 11.30pm every day.
The council said the farm could hold up to 15 events a year totalling 21 days and must give neighbours two weeks’ notice.
The farm must also give neighbours a point of contact if it did get too noisy.
The farm can also serve late night refreshments between 11pm and midnight between Monday and Saturday and sell alcohol between 8.30am and 11.30pm between Monday and Saturday and between 10am and 11.30pm on Sunday.
