Acclaimed World Music Ensemble, Faith i Branko will perform at The Artrix in Bromsgrove, tomorrow (October 16).
They will set local toes tapping with a stop on Album Release Tour (Riverboat Records).
Leading Serbian Roma violinist Branko Ristic – ‘a performer that Paganini would be proud of’ (BBC Radio 3), and English ‘passionate nimble-fingered accordionist’ Faith Ristic (Rhythms Magazine Australia) perform virtuosic original Roma-influenced music with their international ensemble.
A spokesman said: “The duo met in Branko’s Romani village in 2009 and – with music as their only tool for communication – began a journey that would lead to their marriage, their album ‘Gypsy Lover’ being placed in the top 10 World Music Charts, a successful international touring schedule and soon to be released documentary.
“From a foundation of ‘Serbian-Roma’ music, Faith i Branko have created a style that draws from both of their musical heritages and expresses their unique personal connection.”
The spokesman added: “They have just returned from a 43-venue tour of Australia and New Zealand and they have also performed at venues across the world, including Rosa Sinta Festival (Netherlands); Culture Nomade (Switzerland); Kustendorf Festival (Serbia) and Glastonbury among others.”
And their star is set to rise even higher soon, thanks to a new film.
Their Serbian Film Fund sponsored documentary ‘Faith i Branko’ will be released to tour film festivals at the end of this year.
Tickets for Faith i Branko at Artrix on Wednesday October 16 at 7.30pm are available at: www.artrix.co.uk or call 01527 577330.
