SIR – I would like, through the medium of your publication, to make an unconditional offer to Councillor Amos and his colleagues.

The effect will be the same as we now see at the end of the Sidbury/Commandery “improvements” – ie. nothing has changed from before it started, but with the added bonus that I won’t have dissuaded the locals from visiting the city centre, or subjected commuters and other road users to 10 weeks of unnecessary misery.

The money saved can then be used to top up the social care budget, and I get to go on really expensive holidays. Everybody wins.
