DRIVERS are being warned to expect traffic disruption as improvement works will be carried out this summer.
To help improve highway connections and increase traffic flow in Fernhill Heath, Taylor Wimpey North Midlands have started highway improvement works at the junction of Hurst Lane A4536 and Droitwich Road A38.
The improvement works started this morning (July 22), for around six weeks, and will provide permanent traffic lights at the junction of Hurst Lane A4536 and Droitwich Road A38.
McPhillips Wellington Ltd will be carrying out the works, which will take place between 7am and 7pm, seven days a week, and are phased:
Taylor Wimpey will be installing three-way traffic signals at the junction of Hurst Lane A4536 and Droitwich Road A38. These traffic signals will be in place for approximately five weeks while permanent traffic lights are installed, and minor remedial work is carried out to streetlights and to the carriage way.
Once these works are complete and the permanent traffic lights have been installed, there will be a full weekend road closure at the junction of Hurst Lane A4536 and Droitwich Road A38. It is estimated that the weekend closure will take place on Friday, August 30, while the road surfacing is completed.
It is currently estimated that the works will be completed by Monday, September 2.
The works are part of Taylor Wimpey’s planning agreement with Worcestershire County Council and are subject to a legal, Section 278 agreement, which ensures appropriate design and safety standards are met.
A spokesperson for Taylor Wimpey North Midlands, said: “These works will increase the capacity on the local road network and help everyone in the area travel quicker over the longer-term.
“While there may be disruption at peak times, I want to reassure people that our plans have been carefully designed to minimise disruption and finish as soon as possible.”
