POLICE investigating reports of a teenager falling from Sabrina Bridge, Worcester, in the early hours of this morning have released a photo of someone they would like to identify.

Searches of the river and surrounding area are continuing.

The force got a report at 12.52am, that a man was seen falling from the Sabrina Bridge, which links Grandstand Road and Hylton Road.

Police officers, fire crews using an inflatable boat and the police helicopter deploying its searchlight carried out a search of the river and the surrounding area.

The helicopter was up again later this morning, searching the river area for about an hour starting at around 9.45am.

Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area and saw what happened, saw anyone in a distressed state or saw anyone get out the river to contact them.

Anyone who can help to identify the man are also urged to contact police.

He is described as being in his mid-teens and about five feet ten inches tall.

Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.

Anyone with information is urged to contact West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident 42s of June 29.

The incident comes as the family and friends of a teenager who drowned in the river on June 29, 2009, prepared to mark the anniversary of his death.

Student Tony Ballard was aged just 17 when he died attempting to swim across the Severn with three friends.

We still miss Tony

In September last year, student Tom Jones drowned in the River Severn after a night out drinking with friends. An inquest earlier this year recorded an open verdict on his death.
